Lambert Kriedemann

Our end of June meeting members were treated to a demonstration by Lambert Kriedemann, an internationally acclaimed Cape Town artist who has the distinction of having commissioned paintings hanging in hotels and corporate offices all round South Africa, as well as private commissions from overseas art investors.

Lambert showed us how he went about starting his work, from charcoal drawing through to the finished article where he puts the final touches until he is satisfied with the end result.  No alla prima painter, Lambert can take up to 2 years to complete a commission with an eye to the fine detail of the work.

Here he is with the final canvas he worked on.

The Members Exhibition 2010

What an incredible number of talented artists we have in our Society.

The standard of work at the Members Exhibition was exceptionally high - well done to all of you who put a painting up and congratulations to those who sold.  The comments from the public were fantastic!

Sales were on the low side, but we put this down to the time of year.  In fact, there were hardly any overseas visitors through Kirstenbosch last week.  Maybe they're all up in Johannesburg for the start of the World Cup.  And because the World Cup is almost upon us, I thought this painting could have pride of place in this blog post!

Keep painting!  Remember Selection Day for our prestigious Annual Exhibition is coming up in September.  Watch your newsletters for more details and check the web site for more info.

Enjoy the World Cup!
